Ken was born and raised in a small grape farming community in Northwest Pennsylvania, oddly enough named North East. The town was so immersed in grape farming, the high school football team was named The North East Grapepickers. Ken met his wife, Joy, while working at the local McDonald’s when he was 19 years old. Soon after they met, they began singing in churches throughout Western Pennsylvania, New York and Eastern Ohio.
Ken graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1994 with a BA in Specialized Studies with concentrations in Communications (broadcast-emphasis), Music and Mathematics.
Joy and Ken were married in July 1994 and began a year-long adventure with Camfel Productions where they traveled across the nation, setting up and running a positive-values multimedia presentation in middle and high schools. Through that experience, they were able to tour 35 different states during the first year of their marriage.
After fulfilling their commitment to Camfel, God called Ken and Joy to South Harborcreek United Methodist Church in Harborcreek, PA to begin serving part-time as Youth and Music Coordinators. Eventually, Ken was moved to full-time ministry and his title was changed to Pastor of Family Outreach to encompass all the ministries he was involved in: youth, worship and music, occasional preaching, community outreach and communications. In November 2001, God called the Hoover family to Bethany where Ken serves as Director of Music and Worship.
When Ken is not at work, he loves to hang out with his family, go biking, and be a computer geek.
