Hospital Visits-If you, or a family member, are going to the hospital, please call the office and let us know. When you register, please use our Church Code 747. They may no longer call us, but we can ask if anyone is registered. If you have questions call 610-395-3613.

When is Church Cancelled?

Emergency Church Cancellation Procedures 

If worship services are cancelled on Sunday morning, a service at 1:00 p.m. will be offered at the Macungie Campus, weather permitting.  The status of our worship services will be on WFMZ and Bethany’s website by 6:15 a.m., Sunday morning.  Additionally, we will utilize the phone tree.  Please check back on WFMZ and the website, after 11:15 a.m. to check on the status of the 1:00 p.m. worship service.

MOPS & MOMSnext: Mothers of Preschoolers and Elementary students meetings will be starting on September 27th. 2nd & 4th Fridays 9:30-11:30 am at Macungie Campus. All moms are welcome to join in a time of gathering, community, learning and fun. Come spoil yourself with some Mom time. MopsKids is available for children.

Bright Hope Pregnancy Support Centers is offering confidential support for women who have had abortions. A small group Bible study will begin October 14 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm in Bright Hope’s Bethlehem Center. FALL FINANCE PEACE UNIVERSITY Started October 6 and runs to December 11. Sundays 9 am to 10 am, Room 310. Cost per family is $142 + shipping (this may be less if we can get a group discount).

PTSD Workshop – On October 16, Pastor Scotty Coyle will be hosting a workshop to educate and answer a lot of common questions. If you are a military, first responder or domestic abuse person please attend.

Operation Christmas Child Prep Morning – Join us on Friday, October 18, 8:30 a.m. to noon  in Carlson Hall, at the Wescosville Campus, as we assemble school kits for the shoebox packing party.

Marriage Enrichment – Put the Zing back into your marriage!  Get closer to each other, and closer to God.  November 8 – 10.  Contact Marci Alderfer, 610-393-7357 or  Engaged couples welcome.

Compassion Carpool Volunteers are needed to take parishioners who were recently in the hospital to doctor appointments and to therapy appointments. If you are able to serve in this mission, please contact the church office at 610-395-3613.

Hospitality, Ushers and Greeters are needed for all services. Contact Scotty Coyle by calling the church office.

Grace Café / Hospitality  Our cupboards are bare!  We are looking for donations of “Rold Gold” pretzels, “Nabisco Barnum” animal crackers and baked goods.   The reason we are asking for specific brands is because of allergies.  We also have a bakers list.  We encourage the bakers to pick a week that they would like to donate.  If you are interested please contact Donna Long at the church office.

Info Desk Would you be able to come to worship service 20 minutes early and sit behind the info desk to answer any questions people might have? If interested please contact the church office.

Adult Sunday School Classes are offered every Sunday at the Macungie campus during the Sunday School hour beginning at 9:00 a.m.  You may join a class at any time.

Children / Family Ministry

If you are visiting for the first time, please stop by the Children’s Desk for information on our ministries and events and receive a welcome gift for your child.

Special Events Leadership Team:  Trunk R Treat, Ties and Tiaras Daddy Daughter Dance and the Easter Festival require planning.  Would require 1-2 meetings prior to each event, help setting up, running and tearing down after each event. 

Sunday School Coordinator:  Would help schedule and send emails to the Sunday School Teachers.  We are currently using an online curriculum so the lessons and video are downloaded each week, save the video to a flash drive and print a copy of the curriculum for each classroom (3) and emailed to the teachers.  The email also includes which teachers are scheduled for that week. 

Family Sunday School Co-Leader:  At 9:00 a.m. on Sundays, the whole family comes together and a lesson is facilitated.  Marleah Doyle will continue to teach and would appreciate an assistant. 

Awana  Awana is our mid-week children’s program which will is held at the Wescosville Campus.  There is a family meal from 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and then Awana runs from 6:15 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.  Awana clubs started on September 25th.  Ages 2 years through 5th grade.  Register online at 

Classroom assistants are needed.  The classroom assistant would require you to be at Awana each week, listening to the children recite their verses, helping the leader during lesson time and bringing the children down together for game time.

Life Groups  Life Groups is another name for small groups with a focus on applying Bible study to modern life’s challenges. How do I start one? How do I find one? What groups are available? Where do I meet people who are like me and have the same challenges and questions? The answer to all of the above is the Life Groups. For more information please contact Scotty Coyle at

Operation Christmas Child

The Operation Christmas Child ministry is excited for the upcoming season. We need help promoting OCC during October and November before and after the worship services. We also will need help on Thursday, November 7 to help prepare for the Friday, November 8 packing parties. Small Groups/Bible Studies

“Adorned” Ladies join Pastor Gary’s wife Krista for a 14 week study through “Adorned” by Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth. The study began on Sunday, August 25, 2019 @ 9:00am. We will meet in Room #310 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3801 Brookside Road, Macungie. 

Kingdom Man Join us on a journey to become the men God created us to be. Every Thursday of the month (except the fourth Thursday) 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in room 312 at the Macungie Campus. Beginning October 3.

Celebrate Recovery  EVERY Thursday 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall, Wescosville for anyone over 18 dealing with hurts, habits or hang-ups, not just addictions.  We have found through Christ, healing can be found.  Child Care is available!

Special Needs Ministry

Women's Ministry

MOPS/MOMSnext  This is a special ministry for all moms.  Come join us for a cup of coffee, delicious breakfast and grow in friendships and faith.  Every 2nd and 4th Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. starting in September at Macungie.  MOPS is also in need of a Coordinator for the children of our MOPS moms.  Responsibilities include coordination of the teachers and finding subs as needed.  If interested, please contact Kelly Bender.

Facebook Did you know that the women have a Facebook page? It is a private site where we share prayer requests, give announcements and share our events. All ladies of our church are invited to find us at

Purls: Join this group of ladies on the third Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Studio, as they stitch prayer shawls, lap robes and baby blankets for those in need. All stitched items are prayed over before giving them to the recipient. Shawls and lap robes are also donated to various nursing homes. This month, they will also be stitching winter hats, mittens and scarves for children in Allentown. ALL knitters, loomers, crochet stitchers or want-to-be stitchers are welcome to come at any time. Youth Ministry

Youth Sunday School  Every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. at the Macungie campus in Rooms 305, 306, 307.

Small Group Bible Study this Wednesday we start our fall schedule again. We will have a small meal before Bible study one Wednesdays.

Friday Night Youth Cafe now has glow in the dark dodgeball. If you attended the family retreat and had fun with the glow in the dark dodgeball there, we brought that to the Bethany Youth Cafe. Next Youth Cafe is Friday, October 25, 8:00 – 10:00 pm for pizza, fun, friends and now glow in the dark dodgeball!

Missions Announcements


The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) spends 100% of your donation on the project you select.  All operative and administrative costs are paid for out of General Boards.  If you would like to donate to the victim relief from the hurricanes, please go to and highlight national disasters.  Read about the latest info and make a donation.  Thank you for caring.

Food Pantry and Allentown Children's Project

Allentown Children’s Project Immediate needs: bags of rice (no more than 32 oz.), boxes of cold cereal, applesauce, boxes of individually bagged oatmeal, plastic jars of jelly. Gift cards to the Grocery Outlet would also be very helpful.  Please no glass containers or large items.  Thank you!
