Our Upcoming Fellowship Events
Tuesday, November 12 Lunch at the Fogelsville Hotel (11:30 am) The Hotel is on the corner opposite the old Post office on old Rt. 222, which is an extension of Tilghman St. The menu has both sandwiches and dinners and includes some interesting sides like homemade pierogies. Join us for lunch and a trivia quiz. Call your reservations into the Church office by Monday, November 11th.
Tuesday, November 26 - We meet in the Studio Room for Pizza & a Program (Noon) Bring your beverage; we would welcome your donation of a salad, chips or dessert. Call your reservations into the Church office by Monday, November 25th. Our speaker is from “Senior Helpers,” an organization that supports Senior Citizens living in their homes. They offer non medical assistance that will allow you to continue to live at home. The Church doesn’t recommend one company over another, but it is important to know what such companies will provide as you continue to live in your home. At a future meeting we will explore what county services are available.
Tuesday, December 10 – Our Annual Christmas Lunch (11:30 am) Place to be determined. Call your reservations into the Church office by Monday, December 9th.
New Transportation Service in the Lehigh Valley - ITN stands for Independent Transportation Network; a Lehigh Valley Chapter is opening on or about October 15th. If you are 60 years or older you can call this organization and they will provide transportation in a car within a 7 mile radius of your home for about $11.00 one way. (A local Allentown Cab would charge about $25.00 for one way.) Also it is available for visually impaired as well. There is a lot more information, including setting up a personal account. Go to www.itnlehighvalley.org for all the information. You may reserve a trip on line or call 484-893-2880. Drivers are paid and volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please call the same number for information. Go to our Church’s Sr. Citizens’ bulletin board near the choir room to read the article from the Morning Call. Youth Serving Seniors - Recently Adam Kern (our Church’s Director of Youth Ministry) talked with Pastor Ralph about the youth of our Church serving the Senior Citizens’ of our Church and community. Bethany Student Ministry will select a work day in May, 2014 and serve you. If you have any projects inside or outside of your home that youth and their adult leaders could do for you, contact Adam at the Church. His extension is #15.
Sprain your ankle? Think twice about where you get your care…You may think of the emergency room first when you have a medical; event, but that might not be your best choice. If you want quicker non emergency care, you may be wise to skip the ER and go to your nearest urgent care center. Urgent care centers often have extended evening and weekend hours to make it more convenient for you. That’s because ERs are busy crowded places. If your situation is not a true emergency you can end up waiting several hours for the care you need. Generally you will want to visit your primary care physician or an urgent care center for non life threatening health events such as: the flu, a cold, a rash, sore throat, ear ache, a minor cut, vomiting, diarrhea or a sprain. Of course it is a good idea to plan ahead. Don’t wait until an event happens before you locate an urgent care center. You may visit your health plan’s website to search for network urgent care centers. (Bulletin, Highmark, Sept//Oct., 2012)
Contact the Church office at 610-395-3613 to make your reservations for any of these events.
