Hi everyone! I'm excited to tell you about a new aspect of youth ministry that is in the works for 2008. Bethany Church is a church that embraces missions and is intentional about giving people the chance to participate in missions projects. Missions are a great way to learn about the world and about what God is doing in other places. It's also a unique and rewarding way to be involved in God's work in various ways. Missions can happen anywhere; it's not something that only happens in far off countries and involves learning different languages. It's also not something that you have to devote years of your life to. Missions can happen right in your own amazing things, and you have the chance to be a big part of it!

As our first step towards a youth missions program, we are back yard, with people just like you. The cool thing about missions is that you are really being the hands and feet of Jesus to people who desperately need our help. God can do planning on going on a weeklong missions trip to Washington, D.C. this summer (July 20-26). This trip will only be open to students in High School (grades 9-12). We will be taking part in Urban Missions work in downtown Washington, D.C. This may involve serving at soup kitchens, teaching kid's Bible Clubs, reaching out to the homeless, and more. If you have never been a part of a short term missions trip, this will be a great way to experience and share God's love in a new and unique way.

If you're interested in joining us on this trip, please get in all the information and your $100 deposit as soon as you can (the deadline to sign up is March 16th - after that we really can't accept any more)! Since this is our first experience in missions, the space will be limited! Pray about it, and ask God to show you if this is for you! There are a few requirements for the trip which are outlined in the following pages.
