Hospital Visits-If you, or a family member, are going to the hospital, please call the office and let us know. When you register, please use our Church Code 747. They may no longer call us, but we can ask if anyone is registered. If you have questions call 610-395-3613.

When is Church Cancelled?

Emergency Church Cancellation Procedures 

If worship services are cancelled on Sunday morning, a service at 1:00 p.m. will be offered at the Macungie Campus, weather permitting.  The status of our worship services will be on WFMZ and Bethany’s website by 6:15 a.m., Sunday morning.  Additionally, we will utilize the phone tree.  Please check back on WFMZ and the website, after 11:15 a.m. to check on the status of the 1:00 p.m. worship service.

Preschool Registration  For information on registering for Bethany’s 2019/2020 preschool year, contact Amy Hain at ahain@bethanyumchurch.com.  Classes are available for ages 2-5 years, classes run 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., with extended day option available until 1:30 p.m.

Marriage Enrichment Weekend  Put the zing back into your marriage!  Get closer to each other and closer to God.  Marriage Enrichment here at Bethany, March 15-17.  Contact Charlie Gardner, 717-816-4246 or charlesegardner@ptd.net.  Engaged couples welcome!

Compassion Carpool Volunteers are needed to take parishioners who were recently in the hospital to doctor appointments and to therapy appointments. If you are able to serve in this mission, please contact the church office at 610-395-3613.

Hospitality, Ushers and Greeters are needed for all services. Contact Jeff Martin for Ushers and Scotty Coyle for Greeters by calling the church office.

Grace Café / Hospitality  Help is needed for the following:  Sat. setup 4-5 p.m.; Sat. cleanup 6-7 p.m.; Sun. early setup 7-8 a.m.; Sun. maintain 8:15-9 a.m., 9-10 a.m. and 10-11 a.m..  Please contact Marie Musser at RLMam@ptd.net if you are able to help.  Donations are needed for Saturday and Sunday Fellowship time.  We would like to try to get some healthy snacks: Animal Crackers, Pretzels, Cheese, Fruit, Carrots, Celery, and Hot Chocolate.

Info Desk Would you be able to come to worship service 20 minutes early and sit behind the info desk to answer any questions people might have? If interested please contact the church office.

Children / Family Ministry

If you are visiting for the first time, please stop by the Children’s Desk for information on our ministries and events and receive a welcome gift for your child.

Sundays:  9:00 a.m. Young Family Sunday School.  A facilitator guided family lesson format.  10:00 a.m. Kid’s Church.  Children are dismissed from the service following opening worship and the children’s message.

Wednesdays:  Free family meal for all ages, served from 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  AWANA for ages 2 years – 5th grade from 6:15 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. 

Easter Festival:  April 6 from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Wescosville campus for ages Birth – 5th grade.  If you would be interested in helping plan an incredible, Christ-centered Easter Festival, please contact Marleah Doyle.

VBS ROAR 2019:  June 24 – 28  SAVE THE DATE!

Updated Safety Procedures:  To increase the safety of your children, the Children’s Wing will be locked while children are in class and throughout pick up.  Only parents with a security sticker will be permitted to enter.  Please show your ticket at the Children’s Wing doors and to your child’s teacher for pick up. 

Discipleship

Wednesday Night Family Meal  Everyone is invited to a free chef-prepared meal every Wednesday in Fellowship Hall, Wescosville.  Arrive between 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Ash Wednesday  On March 6, there will be a family meal from 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall followed, by an Ash Wednesday service in the Sanctuary at 6:30 p.m.

Faith Night at the Phantoms  Friday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m., the Lehigh Valley Phantoms are playing the Providence Bruins.  There will be churches from around the Valley to enjoy hockey with an emphasis on celebrating faith communities.  This is wonderful fellowship, as we have a section on reserve for Bethany Members.  Tickets are $20, get them at the church office or information desk during services.  We will also have fan experiences like holding the flag and riding the Phanboni!!  Contact Scotty Coyle to reserve a limited fan experience, scoyle@bethanyumchurch.com.

Unspoken & Northpoint Insideout Concert  Friday, March 22, 7:00 p.m. at the Macungie campus.  Unspoken and Northpoint Insideout are bringing all your favorites for a night of community and worship.  Special guest is Caitie Hurst known for her latest single, “How Could I Be Silent”.  You can avoid online fees by purchasing tickets at the church office during the week or at the Information Desk during services.  Online tickets can be purchased at Eventbrite.com.  Tickets cost $20 General Admission or $40 limited VIP which includes VIP seating and VIP experience with Unspoken!  Doors open at 6:15 p.m. for Early Entry Ticket Holders and at 6:30 p.m. for General Admission Ticket Holders.

Small Groups/Bible Studies

Co-Ed Small Group  Marjanne Meyer will be facilitating an 8-week co-ed bible study of the Book of Mark by Max Lucado at 7:00 p.m. in Room 312, Macungie campus.  The study starts on Thursday, February 21 and ends on April 11. 

Women’s Bible Study  Please join our women’s bible study on Thursday evenings at 6:45 p.m. at the home of Mary Thomas, as we begin a new study in March entitled The Story of Max Lucado.  Call Mary at 610-481-9004 with any questions or email at maryt1953@gmail.com.

Celebrate Recovery  EVERY Thursday 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall, Wescosville for anyone over 18 dealing with hurts, habits or hang-ups, not just addictions.  We have found through Christ, healing can be found.  Child Care is available!

Women's Ministry

Ladies’ Potluck Breakfast  Join us next month on March 9 for breakfast in Fellowship Hall, Wescosville from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  Bobbi Janson will be speaking about the “Dough 2 Door” ministry.  Bring a dish to share and a friend!

MOPS/MOMSnext  This is a special ministry for all moms.  Come join us for a cup of coffee, delicious breakfast and grow in friendships and faith.  Every 2nd and 4th Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Macungie.  MOPS is also in need of a Coordinator for the children of our MOPS moms.  Responsibilities include coordination of the teachers and finding subs as needed.  If interested, please contact Kelly Bender.

Sight & Sound Trip  Bus trip to see “Jesus” on Wednesday, May 22, 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Also, a guided tour of Amish Country with a stop at “Country Side” (at your own expense); view “Jacob’s Choice”, a short movie on Amish history; and have an Amish style buffet with homemade desserts at Dienner’s.  The cost is $90/person.  Make checks Bethany UMC and give to Marlene Dorman to reserve your spot.

Facebook Did you know that the women have a Facebook page? It is a private site where we share prayer requests, give announcements and share our events. All ladies of our church are invited to find us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/BethanyUMChurchwomen

Purls: Join this group of ladies on the third Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Studio, as they stitch prayer shawls, lap robes and baby blankets for those in need. All stitched items are prayed over before giving them to the recipient. Shawls and lap robes are also donated to various nursing homes. This month, they will also be stitching winter hats, mittens and scarves for children in Allentown. ALL knitters, loomers, crochet stitchers or want-to-be stitchers are welcome to come at any time. Youth Ministry

Youth Sunday School  Every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. at the Macungie campus in Rooms 305, 306, 307.

Small Groups Combined  JR. High & SR. High small groups meet together on Wednesdays at the Wescosville campus from 6:15 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.  Small groups split after food, fun, games, and in-depth bible studies.   No small groups on March 6.

HURRICANE VICTIM RELIEF

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) spends 100% of your donation on the project you select.  All operative and administrative costs are paid for out of General Boards.  If you would like to donate to the victim relief from the hurricanes, please go to www.umcor.org and highlight national disasters.  Read about the latest info and make a donation.  Thank you for caring.

Food Pantry and Allentown Children's Project

Allentown Children’s Project TOP NEEDS  Plastic jars or cans of Spaghetti Sauce, Pasta, Bags of Rice, Dried or Canned Beans,  and boxes of individual Granola Bars.  Any other donations are greatly appreciated as the pantry is running low on all items.

Food Pantry TOP NEEDS  Canned Ham, Canned Vegetables, Mac & Cheese, Chili, and Stew.

Food Pantry and Allentown Children’s Project  Please see the Food Pantry and ACP donation bins located in the Narthex for a complete list of items needed for each of these volunteer efforts. 

Although some of the items are the same, you will see some different items between the two lists.  Please no expired items.  We do not accept baby food.  Thank you for your help.
